Your trivet is cut from 3/4 inch thick hard maple wood and measures approximately 6 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches high.
For the protection of your cookware I do not put a finish on my trivets because various finishes can soften when heated when a hot pot is put on it and will allow the finish to stick to the bottom of the pot.
